Springtime on the prairies brings the raptors to the farm fields. Owls and hawks will perch near these fields and listen closely for mice.
This Great Gray Owl was perched at the edge of a field and turned towards me for a second when it heard my camera shutter clicking. Once it assessed I wasn’t a threat, it quickly went back to hunting.
